A pet peeve of mine

Wouldn't you think that when you call another real estate office to show one of their listings that they would tell you that there has been an ACCEPTED offer on the property? Now come on...that certainly would save everybody allot of time and frustration. I just had a couple with me that it happened twice in a row. REALLY, twice, now that makes me look like I'm not doing my job. Do I have to ask every time I want to schedule a showing whether the house already has  an ACCEPTED offer to purchase?  Am I asking to much here? What's the point in getting other buyers hopes up that the house that you are showing them is really available to purchase. If there is an ACCEPTED offer on a listing just tell me, doesn't mean I won't show it, in case the listing office is taking back up offers, but I certainly would let the buyers know a head of time. The buying process is stressful enough for young couples, let's do all we can to keep it at a minimal. BTW, we did find them the house of their dreams, BUT it took making offers on 4 different houses. ughh!

New Website

Hope you all like my new website. I found a local gal, Amy, that has worked on it part time and has done a fantastic job. If any of you real estate bloggers (outside of my competition area of course) need someone to set up a website for you or tweek the one you have for optimization purposes, I'd be happy to pass on your e-mail address to her.  She has taught me allot and saved me money which is always appreciated.  I want to keep my website informative but not overwhelming to the eye. I believe real estate shoppers want to go on a website and find what they are looking for quickly and don't want to fill out a bunch of forms etc. I hope that my website will prove to be "user friendly"

Well I guess I better start blogging

Well I have a new webmaster and she says I need to blog. But I said, Amy, I'm really not much of a talker, I'm more a listener.  Well, she said, I'm putting your blog on your front page so you better start learning to blog.

Here goes:

I really have the best job in the world. I mean, its not a 9-5 job for sure, but its very flexible. It suits me to a tee. I meet such great people, I mean really great. I take them under my wing, so to speak and try to make the buying or selling process as easy and as stress free as possible.  I feel bad sometimes because real estate agents as a whole have a bad name. Why aren't real estate agents trusted? As I talk to more and more buyers they just don't trust real estate agents and think that we are just not being truthful with them.  I wish that were not true. How can this be changed? Well maybe it will just start with me. You can rest assured that I will be honest and I won't try to sell them the most expensive house just because I will be paid more commission. I am a firm believer as to what goes around comes around. Any other real estate agents out there that agree with me? Do you think that buyers and sellers as a whole just don't trust real estate agents?

professional real estate referral programs

Has anybody out there had any experiences whether good or bad with any of the professional real estate referral plans like realestate.com or others?  I'm really considering trying one of them. Any input would be appreciated?
